ABOUT US

Established in 2025, Food Is Important is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located at Bethel-Hosanna AME Church in Pennsauken, NJ. Our pantry was founded on the belief that we can break the cycle of hunger, uplift spirits, and inspire lasting change.

Empowered by Pastor Richard F. Norris II, and consistent with the spirit of Bethel-Hosanna’s service ministries, we harness the strength of many to meet the needs of the few, ensuring that no one is left behind. Our mission extends beyond nourishing bodies — we are committed to rekindling dreams, building resilience, and empowering individuals to thrive once more. Every meal we provide is a step toward a brighter, more compassionate future.

While the specific items we distribute may vary, we often provide frozen proteins, fresh produce, canned goods, non-perishable staples, and personal care items to help support the well-being of our community.

With the continued partnership and support of the Food Bank of South Jersey, we strive to uphold and embody their core values, ensuring that every action we take reflects our unwavering commitment to dignity, respect, and service.

Our pantry staff is made up of volunteers from across southern New Jersey — retirees, professionals, educators, students, and more. Though we come from different walks of life, we are united in a common purpose: to serve our community with compassion and hope. We believe that hope is never lost — it is restored through love, action, and the promise of a better tomorrow.
